Crowns and Bridges - Chicago and Hoffman Estates

All Porcelain Crowns

All Porcelain Crowns or metal free crowns are the preferred choice of our clinicians. They are more aesthetic, they mimic the natural enamel, and are very durable. In recent years with the advancement of dental materials we are able to offer these metal free crowns. These are as durable-some even more durable-as their predecessors. Some brands have been at the leading edge like IPS e.max by Ivoclar or Lava by 3M ESPE. More recently we observed development of full zirconium reinforced crowns designed for molar teeth. The durability is unprecedented. With compressive strength in excess of 1000MPa the full zirconium is by far stronger that the metal used as a base for old metal-containing crowns.

Crowns and Bridges

One of the biggest advantages of metal free crown is the elimination of gray edge at the gum line.

Another positive aspect is the reduction of allergic reaction to the metals namely Nickel that may be found in the dental alloys used in fabrication of "'traditional crowns". It is estimated that up to 15% of patients may have metal allergy or sensitivity. If your gums around crowns appear red, swollen, or bleed easily please contact us for an evaluation of your crowns.

If you are staring at your teeth and wonder if there is something that can be done to improve your smile and create more youthful looking teeth then call us now (847) 885-7645.

All Porcelain Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is designed to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of a replacement tooth placed between two porcelain crowns. These porcelain crowns are placed on the teeth adjoining the space where a tooth or teeth are missing. The replacement tooth is attached to these dental crowns to keep it firmly in place and provide an attractive and fully functional replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need a root canal before I get a crown?
A: Definitely not. Your tooth may need a crown for several reasons; to strengthen the fragile structure of a tooth, especially if it had a silver filling, to restore severely worn or fractured teeth, to restore severely angled teeth when no other options are available or to close a gap and prevent food traps between your teeth. American Dental Association and American Academy of Endodontics also recommend a crown on every tooth that had a root canal treatment as statistics show that these teeth are very prone to fractures.

Q: Why can't I have a large filling instead of the crown?
A: We may have to do both procedures if the tooth in question is severely decayed. We will discuss your options at the time of your visit, obtain detailed x-ray and intra-oral photograph of your tooth and create a treatment plan that will best serve you. Call us NOW (847) 885-7645 to evaluate your teeth and find if all ceramic crown may be an option for you.

Q: Is there a warranty for crowns? What about bridges?
A: Our office is proud to offer a 5 year limited warranty on all crowns and 3 year limited warranty on bridges-we can offer this because after years of experience we know what works and what doesn't. Are we perfect 100% of the time? No. But for these few times we will address any issues that may arise. To obtain the warranty patients must be seen by our hygiene team at least two times a year and we need to check for possible cavities by taking x-rays at least once a year. Any necessary recommendation regarding fluoride application or protective guards must be addressed as well. To find out more please call our office (847) 885-7645.
